Nice

So we started our day at an antique market that was interesting...lots of old stuff.
These are waterfalls way up on a mountain that we trekked up. It was incredibly hot and humid because it stormed the night before.
This is a view from on top of the mountain and as you can see is impressive! Pictures do not do it justice but it is still amazing to see nonetheless.
This is a strange sculpture outside the modern and contemporary art museum.
This is the inside of a Franciscan museum/cathedral and it was quite cool because everything had a golden hue to it. Oddly though, you had to put money into a slot for each one of the side areas to see the paintings and frescoes and such.
This is a super pissed off gladiator that you should not mess with. He is located inside the archeological museum and will mess you up if you look at him strangely. Some ancient ruins of a Roman city that used to occupy this area. You cannot tell what is what but it is supposed to be awesome! The large building in the background is the Matisse Museum.
This is a real tree that for whatever reason has cool purpleish leaves/flowers.
This is the St. Joan of Arc Cathedral that was completely different and almost mosque-like. Everywhere there where domes which gave it a cool appearance from the outside.
It was Bastille-day which is reminiscent of our July 4th day. Fireworks and such were set off in many locations and because we were on the beach we saw at least 4 different displays. As you can see, Erika is drinking heavily! Just kidding, we stole the bottle from a wino so it's OK.

One of the main areas in Nice which is an open plaza and features many night performers.

The walk back to the hotel features a beautiful nighttime stroll with lights and passed out drunk people. An awesome ending to a great day!

Oh and by the way, we probably walked a marathon today no joke!

Good night and sweet dreams!!

  1. Great post! The city looks magnificent! I especially love the picture of the gladiator - he certainly looks mean! I'd like to hear more about where you're staying and what you're eating (and drinking). Hope you're keeping a list of the very good wines so Dad can try & find them here.

    Love you guys!

  3. Yeah, I was wondering about the funny story too. Is it still coming?? Nice looks beautiful - love the waterfalls and ocean views. Fierce gladiator?? Don't know about that - shouldn't you have lost the shirt and made like a he-man (like you did when you were 6)? Love you, Mom P.S. Where are you staying? No couchsurfing in Nice?
